A photographer’s
eye, quietly
looking.

Three series of personal photography — observations made in passing, kept for the slow attention they ask for. No commercial brief. No client. Just the frame the moment asked for.
heavy responsibility
of the practice.
Photography here is not commissioned. It is what happens between the other work — the frames Tan Xiaozheng keeps for the same reason he keeps painting: because the moment asked to be held.
Three series over six years, across Chengdu, Beijing, and travel. Small strength but heavy responsibility is the longest — an ongoing observation of weight on small shoulders. Wall is a study of surfaces that age. Boys is a single frame, kept as such.
Three series documented at tanxiaozheng.com/works/photo/. Series names, photo order, and Chinese subtitles preserved from the original post. No pricing, no client, no commercial context — this is personal photography, not commercial work.
The “About this practice” framing is editorial commentary written for this archive page, not a quoted artist’s statement.
